Operations Associate Jennifer Perry has been working in the financial services industry for more than two decades. She has a degree in finance and in the past, held her life and health insurance license as well as Series 7 and 63 securities registrations. She began working for Rick Colglazier in 2006 and stayed with the firm as it was sold and transitioned into Giesting Financial in 2018. Always preferring to work behind the scenes, she currently processes client paperwork and helps set up new accounts, making sure everything is done properly and efficiently.
Born and raised in Marshalltown, Iowa, Jennifer was a cheerleader during all four years of high school. “It was a great place to grow up, with a population of roughly 26,000, so it wasn’t huge. But my high school graduating class had more than 300 people because it was the only high school serving all the neighboring towns,” she says. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, she got married and moved to Rochester, Minnesota. It was there that she got licensed and held positions in the financial services industry at two different firms, including IBM Credit Union’s investment division. She moved to Columbus, Indiana in 2005.
Jennifer and her husband, Jason, have the kind of love story that many dream of. They were childhood sweethearts who went to the same church and dated all through high school and college. (Below left is one of their high school prom photos.) “We dated one another for seven years before we got married, but I had known him since I was a little girl,” Jennifer says.
Both Jennifer and Jason attended the University of Northern Iowa, a college known for its top-notch business and education programs. While she got her degree in finance, Jason got his degree in mathematics—he has taught math at the high school level since 1996. In 2006, after they had moved to Columbus, Jason was the math teacher and assistant athletic director at Columbus North High School. There he met Rick Colglazier, who happened to be a volunteer football coach, and the two struck up a conversation about Jennifer’s background. Rick soon created a position for her at his firm.
Jennifer and Jason are the proud parents of twins, Sam and Hannah Perry. They spend a lot of time taking the two teenagers to sports games and practices.
Sam plays almost any type of sport, but especially loves football, basketball and baseball. Hannah was in gymnastics for nine years, but when she went to middle school, switched to volleyball and golf. Both Sam and Hannah just won most valuable player awards for their fall sports, football and volleyball respectively.
Another important part of the Perry family is their adopted rescue dog, Brody, a pit/boxer mix.
In her free time, Jennifer enjoys watching sports and spending time with family and friends. Jason is a lifelong Chiefs fan and, of course, both support the Colts. When it comes to college sports, they follow their alma mater team the Northern Iowa Panthers as well as the Iowa Hawkeyes. Jennifer and Jason recently celebrated their 25th anniversary by taking a trip to Nashville, Tennessee.
