Mark Giesting, Wealth Advisor and Founder of Giesting Financial, is one of the nicest and most down-to-earth guys you will ever meet. He and his wife of twenty-eight years, Denise, have four children, and are “almost” empty-nesters. Two of their kids are out of college, one is a sophomore at the University of Dayton, and the fourth is a senior in high school who will graduate in a month. (The proud parents just found out in March that their youngest son enrolled in the Marines!)

Mark’s oldest son, Alec, lives in Denver, and is affiliated with the same Registered Investment Advisor (Prime Capital Investment Advisors). Last fall Mark and Denise went for an outdoor getaway visit in Colorado and the family stayed in Breckenridge to hike and fish. They are shown here with one of the rainbow trout they caught.

Mark will quickly tell you that he loves to travel, and he and Denise went to Europe a couple of years ago. Another epic bucket list trip happened in August of 2020, a journey well off the beaten path booked and planned by his son, Alec. Last summer, they rented a truck, along with another father-son couple and drove the back roads of Alaska, staying in cabins along the way. The scenery was breathtaking. They are shown here on a summit outside of Valdez (Don’t ask Mark about their Alaska deep-sea halibut fishing excursion—he tends to forget that he gets seasick on boats.)

In addition to traveling, Mark makes it a point to stay fit. He began running with his buddies more than 15 years ago after they all began to notice that they were getting older and needed to do something to stay in shape. The group runs every Saturday morning rain or shine at 6:30 am on the country roads surrounding Batesville. They are shown here at sunrise last winter.

The newest member of the Giesting family, Lena, joined them two years ago. Mark loves his best friend and rescue dog, who is mostly Labrador Retriever with some Greyhound thrown in. Lena frequently accompanies him to the office and helps with portfolio rebalancing 😊!

Another thing you should know about Mark is that he is devoted to community. Over the years, he has served on hospital, school, and church boards. Currently, he serves on the board of directors for the nonprofit community coffee house known as Amack’s Well. The coffee shop http://amackswell.com/ was named after the founder of Batesville, Indiana, Teunis Amack. He was the one who first purchased land in the area, digging its first well. The well’s water was shared with other new settlers, and it became a community gathering place. The nonprofit organization behind Amack’s Well sees the coffee business performing the same function as a community gathering place in today’s downtown Batesville. Ask Mark to join you for a cup of coffee when you’re in the area!
